Prayer Corner
Pray without ceasing – 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgivings, present your requests to God - Philippians 4:6
Jesus even told a parable to show that we should pray and not give up - Luke 18:1.
Our hearts are so often poisoned by the pressure, frustrations and stresses of everyday life.
The best antidote is prayer to God who is ever ready to listen. The song writer said:
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer
Prayer works. Prayer is powerful. God answers prayer. This is true and a trustworthy saying.
The unfortunate reality is that we don’t pray enough. Just before you put a limit to how much
prayer is enough…you can never pray enough. Pray without ceasing, said our loving master.
Talking about limits, be on guard because Satan tries to limit your prayer life because that devil knows that your praying will limit him.
Whatever situation you are going through in life, combat it with a fervent prayer life. Sometimes the weight is too heavy for your little shoulders, sometimes you are so overwhelmed, anxious and stressed. You suffer so many sleepless nights, you are tired because your mind is always wandering, your heart is broken, or you have scars that time is failing to heal. There has never been a better candidate for prayer. Just a little talk with Jesus makes it right, all right.
You don’t have to try to impress God with your eloquence of speech. You don’t have to worry about grabbing His attention with the length of your prayer. God knows our needs before we even ask. He knows our hearts even though we may be introverts. God hears even out faintest cries for help. He invites you and me to pray and not lose heart. He implores you and me to be persistent in prayer…and pray with faith.
God is able. Say it one more time…God is able. He has the power to move and work in your life. When you pray, fervently, He is able to do immeasurably more, than all we ask or imagine, according to His power (Ephesians 3:20). God answers prayers. Yes He does. Don’t let the devil tell you otherwise. Don’t let doubt cripple you. Don’t let anything hinder you from experiencing the power of prayer and the power of God in response to prayer.
What a relief it is to know that you can cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you, yes you (1 Peter 5:7). All that troubles you, all that is beyond you, pray about it and leave it in the capable hands of God. I feel better already, just knowing that.
I cannot explain the power of prayer clearly, but get to praying and you will experience it daily. Prayer changes things, beginning with the one who prays. Plug into this great power supply, fight all your battles on your knees, and pray for those mountains until God levels them into highways. Keep on praying.
If you are going to pray, don’t worry, if you are going to worry, don’t pray. Pray now.
